The IoT industry is ready to spread
According to media reports, three operators have formulated the 2020’s commercial plan to launch 5G network, and they will start the construction of trial network and related tests as early as next year. If the preparatory work is progressing smoothly, they are possible to invest 5G network construction in 2018 and officially launched their commercial use in 2020.
At present, the industry insiders generally believe that once 5G network is officially put into commercial use, it is expected to invigorate the IoT industry with trillion yuan. A number of market institutions express that, many typical IoT segments have been quite mature in the technology and application level, such as car networking, big data, cloud computing, smart home, unmanned aerial vehicle etc. But the existing 4G network’s communication capacity greatly limits the development of above industries. With the official commercial use of 5G network, the network problems will be easily solved, and these industries will usher in a rapid development period. And artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing and other industries will also rise.
What is the Internet of things?
IOT refers to a network which connects any subject with Internet through radio frequency identification (RFID) device, infrared sensors, GPS, laser scanners and other information sensing equipment based on the agreed protocol, to implement information exchange and communication, so as to realize intelligent identification, positioning, tracking, monitoring and management.
Two ministries and commissions protect the R&D of IoT
“The 2016 Year’s submit of International Open IoT Technology and Standards and W3C Web of Things working group meeting” were held in Beijing on the 11th. Relevant officials of the Ministry of science and technology said at the meeting that, in the key research programs, which was actively promoted by Ministry of science and technology, the key special programs of IoT and smart is expected to start in this year. The officials of the Ministry of Industry and Information also expressed that, it would continue to support the development of various technical alliance of IoT industry and effectively integrate the collaborative innovation at upstream and downstream of industry chain.
According to the current policy, key special programs will organize excellent strengths of industry-university-research to jointly overcome difficulties and put forward the overall solution. This launching of this program will have a huge promoting effect on IoT industrialization. “This means that the evolution period from ‘IoT technologies” to “IoT market” will be greatly shortened. Due to the vague boundaries of IoT’s R&D stages, technology updates and result transformation will be faster,” insiders said.
IoT has become a national strategy
IoT is a kind of new information science and technology following computer and Internet. At present, the main countries in the world have seen IoT as a major strategy to seize the commanding height of a new round of development of science and technology. China has also seen IoT as a strategic emerging industry to a national development key point, and it has been clearly put forward in the outline of “12th Five-Year” plan. To push the research and development of IoT’s key technologies and demonstration applications in key areas of development has become the important content to develop “Internet plus” national action plan is in recent years.
The IoT is an important part of the national strategic emerging industry, and is a new round of information technology revolution following computer, Internet and mobile communication. It is a new round of informatization wave to promote the further application of information technology in all walks of life. To develop IoT industry represents the urgent needs to achieve self-control technologies, protect national security, promote the adjustment of industrial structure and the integration of information and industrialization, develop strategic emerging industries to promote economic growth, and enhance the overall innovation capability to build an innovative country. As one of the most important parts in the new generation of information technology industry, the IoT industry’s development has huge strategic significance.
The important component of “made in China in 2050”
In China, the IoT industry under the strategic background of “Internet plus” has contained the unprecedented promoting conditions, and it is gradually entering a stage of rapid development from the overall layout and planning stage. It plays a role of “core productivity” to promote the rapid development of world. IoT also is an indispensable development field in china’s road of Industry 4.0 and an important part of strategic plan of “made in China in 2050”.
Domestic development keeps pace with world
According to Wind data, the market size of IoT industry—CAGR from 2009 to 2014 reached 27.1%. Based on the Forecast Analysis Report of Market Requires and Investments of application field of Chinese IoT Industry, it is expected that the market size of IoT industry in 2018 will exceed 1.5 trillion yuan, and CAGR will exceed 30.0%. it is estimated in next few years, Chinese IoT industry will continue to develop rapidly. According to Chinese IoT research and development center’s estimates, the industrial scale of Chinese IoT industry will reach 2 trillion yuan in 2020, and the industry chain’s development potential is significant.
